Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros stated that he has been impressed with the performances of Valencia this season, ahead of his side’s trip to the Mestalla on Saturday.
Los Che remain unbeaten in La Liga this season, collecting thirteen points from a possible fifteen available, outperforming league favourites Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The Basque side have been inconsistent so far but have collected four points from a possible six on the road, and speaking to journalists this afternoon, Caparros remains appreciative of the abilities of their opponents, but is confident his team can perform well.
“Valencia is enjoying a great time. They have started wonderfully and they remind me of Sevilla from a few years ago, when they made a great team with players that were not well known. But we must fight, be consistent and be confident in our chances of success.
“They have two strikers in [Aritz] Aduriz and [Roberto] Soldado that will be given equal opportunity to play, and both of them make Valencia’s game more direct. But we are here to compete and produce a good game.”
Caparros also added that he might consider rotating his squad, due to the constraints that the season puts on his players.
“This is a competition. In a season there are many games that change depending on the situation. We have a balanced squad, and are in a position to rotate if necessary."
