Hamburg to sell Alex Silva to Flamengo

The 26-year old defender has been on loan at Sao Paulo following an unsuccessful spell in Europe, and may be moving back to Brazil permanently

Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has travelled to Brazil to find a potential buyer for Alex Silva, and may be set to offload the defender to Flamengo.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Sao Paulo after failing to establish himself at the Bundesliga side, and the former Chelsea chief has confirmed that the German club are keen to sell the Brazilian.

"Our first priority is to sell him. The second option would be a further loan [deal]," the 54-year-old told the Hamburg Morgenpost.

A fee of €3.5 million has been touted by the media source, which would see Michael Oenning's side relinquish their 50 per cent ownership of the player. The other half of his rights were purchased by investor Sergio Malucelli.

Silva is the younger brother of Benfica's Luisao, and looks set for a permanent transfer back to his homeland.
