SATURDAY CLOCKWATCH

1709: The corner comes to nothing, and the final whistle blows. Cracking game, but it's another draw on the road for Manchester United.

1708: Sunderland win a corner deep into injury time. Ferguson, meanwhile, now appealing for Anti-Fergie Time. He wants the final whistle.

1708: The United free-kick is headed back across goal where Vidic meets it powerfully. Heading for the target before being blocked. Sunderland race clear, and Rafael picks up a booking for cynically chopping down his man.

1707: Berbatov fouled by Turner. Free-kick for United deep into injury-time.

1705: Three added minutes at Sunderland.

1704: Nani bends a shot wide of the Sunderland goal. Only a couple of minutes left for either side to find a winner in this absorbing clash. Certainly not a dull 0-0.

1700: Berbatov and Hernandez link up nicely on the edge of the Sunderland box, but Chicharito can't keep his shot down. Still time for a winner here, and you wouldn't like to bet on which team will get it.

1659: Acrobatic effort from Asamoah, but he doesn't get much pace on his overhead kick and van der Sar has an easy save.

1657: No settling for a point at Sunderland. United have brought on Bebe, Sunderland have brought on Andy Reid and Asamoah Gyan. Sunderland love a late goal...

1655: Both sides still going all out for three points at the Stadium of Light where somehow it remains goalless. Berbatov the latest to go close as he fires a shot wide from 20 yards. Meanwhile Bebe is on for United, playing from the right-hand side.

1654: Leicester survive their nervy finish and now lead 3-1 in the dying moments.

1653: Stoke beat Blackburn 1-0. Could have been many more but for Paul Robinson - impressive performance from Stoke. West Ham 1 Fulham 1 also a final score.

1652: Chesterfield trailed 4-1 to Crewe at one stage, and 5-3 with just minutes remaining. It's now 5-5. Not to be outdone as a game of craziness, Accrington now lead Gillingham 7-4.

1652: Heidar Helguson restores QPR's lead at Palace.

1651: All over at St Andrews where Everton win 2-0, and all over at White Hart Lane as well where van der Vaart's double enabled Spurs to come from behind and win 2-1.

1650: Everton seal the points at Birmingham as Baines' fine cross is headed past Ben Foster by Tim Cahill. Everton lead 2-0.

1648: Darren Bent fires narrowly wide for Sunderland. Still goalless in that one - somehow!

1645: Portsmouth are level at Middlesrbrough from the penalty spot through Liam Lawrence. Barry Robson sent off for Boro. Alan Hutton goes close for Spurs against Villa.

1644: The 10 men of Leeds can't hold on. Tommy Smith puts Ipswich back in front.

1643: Rob Green makes a fine save to deny Simon Davies. Still West Ham 1 Fulham 1. Portsmouth have a penalty at Middlesbrough and a chance for a late equaliser.

1642: Villa lucky to still have 11 men on the field as Collins scythes down Lennon who was through on goal. Only a yellow card shown.

1641: Malbranque goes close again for Sunderland as his shot deflects off Rio Ferdinand and loops on to the roof of the net.

1640: Another bonkers game: Accrington 6 Gillingham 4.

1640: Leeds are level at Ipswich, but now down to 10 men after former Tractor Boy Alex Bruce picked up a second yellow.

1639: Astonishing game at Chesterfield in League Two: they trail Crewe 5-3.

1638: Robert Snodgrass lashes home a leveller for Leeds at Ipswich.

1638: The free-kick causes a right old crowd scene in the United area, but it's still 0-0.

1637: Free-kick for Sunderland in a promising position on the right.

1635: James Morrison has headed West Brom level against Bolton. Some cracking Premier League games going on today with all to play for still in every one of them.

1632: A second goal for van der Vaart, once again pouncing on a Crouch knockdown. His first touch is sensational, and his second is lashed beyond Friedel with fearsome power. Spurs lead 2-1.

1632: The points are safe for Celtic now as Gary Hooper makes it 3-1 against Hamilton. Both Old Firm sides coming from behind today to preserve their perfect records.

1631: Decent London derby at Upton Park, where West Ham and Fulham are both going for the win. It's still 1-1, but plenty of time for that to change.

1630: Man United much better in the second half at Sunderland. Still goalless.

1627: Still a raft of chances at both ends at White Hart Lane. Crouch is the latest to spurn a clear opening, heading wide from the six-yard line after Modric's corner is glanced on by Huddlestone. Somehow it's still only 1-1 in that one.

1626: Cardiff are now back in front through Olofinjana - cracking second half at Oakwell - while Simeon Jackson's second goal of the game has put Norwich 3-0 up at Bristol City.

1625: Villa inches away from goign back in front against Spurs as Young's cross just evades the sliding Carew in the middle of the goal and Albrighton at the back post. Wonderful ball in, and Villa will wonder how neither man managed to get the slight touch needed to divert the ball on target.

1625: Cardiff's penalty is saved by Luke Steele. Stil Barnsley 1 Cardiff 1.

1625: A Maloney double has turned things round at Celtic. Fine 20-yard free-kick to give his side the lead.

1624: Shackell's low drive brings Barnsley level against Cardiff, but now the visitors have the chance to restore their lead from the penalty spot...

1624: Berbatov has the ball in the net for United but he's well offside and rightly flagged. Still Sunderland 0 Man United 0.

1623: Scunthorpe back in the game at Leicester through Michael O'Connor. Still 2-1 down, though.

1622: Bolton's good start to the second half has its reward as Johan Elmander gives them the lead at West Brom.

1619: The players are out for the second half at Sunderland. Berbatov set to replace Michael Owen.

1618: Portsmouth have pulled a goal back at Middlesbrough. It's 2-1 to the home side there now.

1617: Lovely move from Stoke as Walters finds Etherington, but his shot is well saved by Robinson. Meanwhile up at Sunderland, Dimitar Berbatov is warming up without a tracksuit on and looks sure to be coming on for Man United.

1616: End-to-end stuff at White Hart Lane where both Spurs and Villa are pouring forward in numbers whenever the opportunity arises.

1615: A second goal for Leicester against Scunthorpe as Lloyd Dyer scores at the second attempt. Sven'll be happy, and Leicester are good value for their lead.

1614: Birmingham are furious not to have a penalty after Leighton Baines' challenge on Stephen Carr.

1613: Two good saves from Scott Carson keep West Brom level against Bolton.

1613: West Ham buoyant after that equalising goal. They're chasing a second now.

1612: Roger Johnson own goal apparently for Everton.

1611: Everton lead at Birmingham. Could be a Ben Foster own goal - not quite sure what's happened. We wait to see who's credited with it but what is certain is that Everton lead. Birmingham don't lose many at home.

1610: Spurs look sure to take a 2-1 lead over Villa through that man van der Vaart as he approaches another Crouch knockdown seven yards from goal, but Martin Petrov makes a superb, last-ditch tackle to deny the Dutchman. Goal-saving challenge.

1609: Bolton were on the back foot for much of the first half at West Brom, but they've made the brighter start to the second period. Still goalless, though.

1608: West Ham are level in the London derby against Fulham as Frederic Piquionne's powerful downward header from Victor Obinna's cross makes it 1-1. Fine goal for the Hammers.

1607: Disaster for Edgar Davids. His backpass fails to reach Julian Speroni allowing QPR to take the lead against Crystal Palace through Adel Taarabt.

1606: Stoke take a deserved lead against Blackburn. Jon Walters sent clear after a good move and he gave Robinson no chance. Stoke 1 Blackburn 0 early in the second half.

1604: Half-time at Sunderland. The home side have dominated, but haven't been able to find a way through. Will they be made to pay?

1603: Spurs have brought Aaron Lennon on for the second half against Villa in place of Pavlyuchenko, pushing van der Vaart into a more centreal position. Almost pays instant dividends as a flowing move ends with Bale's low cross behing hacked clear.

1602: Two added minutes at the end of the first half at the Staiudm of Light. Sunderland are on the attack again.

1600: United clear. About five minutes to go in the first half there. Second halves about to start everywhere else.

1559: United clear the corner. Sunderland still on the attack though, with Zenden set to unleash a long throw.

1558: Corner for Sunderland on the right-hand side.

1556: Nani bends the free- kick round the wall but can't quite get enough movement to bring it back inside the post. Goal-kick.

1555: Anderson wins a free-kick for Man United in a dangerous position after being hauled down by Titus Bramble. Nani lining this one up.

1553: Sunderland go close again as Bolo Zended crashes a 25-yarder into the post with van der Sar beaten.

1552: All focus on the Stadium of Light for the next 10 minutes or so. Sunderland still pressing, but haven't created another chance as good as the one spurned by Malbranque.

1548: Half-time at West Ham, and also now at Spurs. Fulham lead 1-0 at Upton Park, while van der Vaart's late header means Spurs go in all-square against Villa. They're the only two Premier League games with goals so far from the 3pm kick-offs, with the games at Birmingham, Stoke, and West Brom all 0-0.

1547: Spurs level against Villa on the stroke of half-time. Pavlyuchenko's cross from the right is nodded acrss goal by Crouch, and van der Vaart gets up above Dunne to head home.

1545: Paul Robinson does well to turn Matt Etherington's volley round the post to keep Blackburn level at Stoke.

1543: Craig Bellamy puts Cardiff ahead at Barnsley with a cool finish placed beyond the keeper.

1542: Barry Robson's penalty doubles Middlesbrough's lead against Portsmouth.

1541: Good chance for Villa to double their advantage at Spurs. They break down the left through Downing, whose cutback finds Carew. He finds the upper tier.

1540: Sunderland looking good against Man United so far. Only about 20 minutes played in that one, but the home side have had the bulk of the possession and the clearer chances.

1539: Pavlyuchenko scuffs a lovely Gareth Bale cross wide from close range. Spurs clawing their way back into the game after a poor start.

1538: Wes Hoolahan doubles Norwich's lead at Bristol City.

1537: Still goalless at the Hawthorns, but West Brom are well on top against Bolton in that one.

1536: Short and sweet from Heskey at Spurs. Having created the goal for Villa, he's now gone off injured to be replaced by John Carew.

1535: Adam Lockwood's header brings Doncaster level against Forest.

1533: Clint Dempsey beats Robert Green to give Fulham the lead at West Ham.

1532: Steed Malbranque should've given Sunderland the lead against Manchester United. He's through on goal but denied by a fine save from Edwin van der Sar.

1531: Yakubu spurns a glorious chance for Everton at Birmingham, where it remains goalless. Van der Vaart has a penalty appeal turned down at White Hart Lane - went down easily.

1529: Middlesbrough lead Portsmouth 1-0 thanks to Matthew Bates' strong finish. Nottingham Forest are also ahead at Doncaster thanks to Dexter Blackstock.

1528: Scott Barron finds the bottom corner to draw Millwall level against 10-man Burnley.

1527: Norwich lead at Bristol City thanks to Simeon Jackson's right-footed finish into the roof of the net.

1527: Shaun Maloney's close-range header has got Celtic back on level terms against Hamilton.

1526: Preston are back on the goal trail after their six at Leeds in the week. Keith Treacy has given them the lead against Reading.

1525: The 10 men of Burnley lead at Millwall through Jay Rodriguez. It's been all Millwall since Carlisle's red card, but they've been caught on the break.

1523: Sunderland on the attack against Man United in the early stages of that one. Remember, the start was delayed by around 20 minutes at the Stadium of Light.

1521: Good chance for Spurs to equalise, but Pavlyuchenko's shot is blocked by Richard Dunne and Alan Hutton slices the rebound wide when he really should have at least worked the keeper.

1520: Leeds shipped six midweek, and they're already behind today at Ipswich. Jason Scotland the man on target.

1518: We're under way at Sunderland.

1518: Rafael van der Vaart fires a free-kick high over the bar. Not happening for Spurs today - could be another Champions League hangover for Harry Redknapp's men.

1517: Dundee United lead at Kilmarnock through David Goodwillie.

1517: Watford lead at Sheffield United thanks to Marvin Sordell's close-range finish. That was their first real attack after a bright start from the home side.

1516: Villa have a deserved lead at Spurs. Bassong is far too easily bullied off the ball by Heskey who squares the ball for Marc Albrighton to score from close range. That's his first senior goal, and Villa are good value for their lead.

1515: Villa dominating proceedings at White Hart Lane, Stephen Warnock going close after being found by Stewart Downing who had just had a big penalty appeal turned down. Still goalless.

1514: Teams just emerging from the tunnel at Sunderland.

1512: Fine start to the post-Sousa era at Leicester as Martyn Waghorn's sweet finish gives them an early lead against Scunthorpe. The watching Sven-Goran Eriksson will have enjoyed that.

1511: Stoke well on top in the early stages of their clash with Blackburn, but can't yet find a way past Paul Robinson.

1510: Burnley down to 10 men very early in their Championship clash at Millwall as Clarke Carlisle gets a straight red card. Still goalless in that one.

1509: West Brom have made a confident start against Bolton at the Hawthorns, but it's still goalless.

1507: Aston Villa almost catch Spurs napping with a quick free-kick, but Emile Heskey can't capitalise and ends up throwing himself to the floor to try and win a penalty. He doesn't.

1506: Shock scoreline from Parkhead where Mark McLaughlin has given Hamilton the lead over Celtic. The Hoops will have to emulate Rangers and come from behind today if they're to maintain their perfect start to the season.

1505: Chris Humphrey has given Motherwell the lead against St Mirren.

1504: First clear chance at White Hart Lane, where Roman Pavlyuchenko heads over the bar from close range after being found by Luka Modric's cross. Should've done better.

1500: The rest of today's scheduled 3pm kick-offs are under way.

1459: Sunderland v Man United has been delayed by 20 minutes due to a burst pipe in the away changing room.

1458: Garry Kenneth had recovered from a head knock to take his place for Dundee United as they take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. The central defender picked up the injury against St Johnstone last week, but is passed fit to play alongside Darren Dods at the back. United are without Craig Conway, whose medial ligament damage flared up in training - forcing him out for at least another week. Kilmarnock demote on-loan Chelsea defender Ben Gordon to the bench to allow veteran Garry Hay a return at left-back.

1456: St Johnstone's preparations for the match against Hibernian were overshadowed by the fall-out from last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Dundee United when defender Steven Anderson was shown two yellow cards by referee Brian Winter but was allowed to remain on the pitch. Despite the eventual one-match ban meted out by the SFA not kicking in until Thursday the stopper is notable by his absence from the home line-up. Manager Derek McInnes makes only one change from the defeat at Tannadice, bringing in striker Collin Samuel at the expense of Andy Jackson, who drops down to the bench. Hibs travelled to Perth seeking only their second win of the season, their only previous triumph coming on the opening weekend of the campaign against Motherwell in mid-August. Under-pressure boss John Hughes makes two alterations from the starting XI which went down 2-1 to Celtic seven days previously, with striker Colin Nish and Sol Bamba returning from injury, with Edwin de Graaf and Paul Hanon making way for the pair.

1448: Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee makes three changes to the starting line-up which lost 3-2 to Rangers at Pittodrie for today's game at Inverness. In a surprise move, Dons goalkeeper Jamie Langfield is replaced by Mark Howard, while Nikola Vujadinovic and Chris Maguire missed out due to injury and suspension, respectively. Into the first team come Ryan Jack and Josh Magennis, while Michael Paton and Dean Jarvis are on the bench. Caley Thistle manager Terry Butcher makes one change to the side which beat St Mirren in Paisley last time out with Nick Ross replacing David Proctor, who is injured.

1443: Neil Lennon made two changes to his side for Celtic's clash with Hamilton at Parkhead. In a reshuffled line-up, injured left-back Charlie Mulgrew is replaced by midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng and striker Anthony Stokes drops to the bench with Greece international Georgios Samaras coming in. Hamilton boss Billy Reid makes one change, bringing in Grant Gillespie for Marco Paixao, who is on the bench.

1441: Third-placed Motherwell are unchanged for a third consecutive SPL match as they host St Mirren, with defender Stevie Hammell having to settle for a place on the bench after recovering from a hamstring injury. New St Mirren signing Patrick Cregg is handed his debut for the Paisley side, while goalkeeper Craig Samson starts in place of Paul Gallacher, who is not in the visiting squad. The third of Danny Lennon's changes from the third straight defeat suffered by his side seven days earlier is the inclusion of Michael Higdon from the start, while the injured Nick Hegarty and Sean Lynch dropped out.

1438: Stoke manager Tony Pulis makes three changes to his side for the visit of Blackburn. Abdoulaye Faye, Jermaine Pennant and Rory Delap are recalled after the victory at Newcastle. Ricardo Fuller dislocated his shoulder in that match but has made such a quick recovery he's on the bench. Blackburn also come into the game on the back of an away win, at newly-promoted Blackpool. Brett Emerton returns to the team after scoring with the winner with Nikola Kalinic dropping down.

1436: Wigan pick up three points with a 2-0 home victory over Wolves.

1435: Gabriel Tamas was restored to the West Brom XI for the visit of Bolton. Tamas, who missed last Saturday's 3-2 win at Arsenal with a calf problem, comes in for Pablo Ibanez, while Graham Dorrans replaces the injured Jerome Thomas in the only other change to Roberto Di Matteo's starting line-up. Owen Coyle makes one adjustment to the Wanderers side which held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw, with Gary Cahill, back after serving a three-match suspension, coming into the defence and Sam Ricketts dropping to the bench.

1433: West Ham midfielder Kieron Dyer is out of Avram Grant's starting XI for the clash with Fulham through illness. Pablo Barrera comes in for the winger in a West Ham starting XI otherwise unchanged from the side that picked up their first league win over Tottenham last week. Fulham boss Mark Hughes makes two changes to the team that drew 0-0 against Everton, with Chris Baird replacing Stephen Kelly at right-back and Eddie Johnson coming for Zoltan Gera to partner Clint Dempsey in an all-American strike partnership.

1426: Hugo Rodallega doubles Wigan's lead with a fortuitous ricochet from an attempted clearance. Should seal the points.

1425: Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is as good as his word, leaving Wayne Rooney out of this afternoon's trip to Sunderland. The England international, who is nursing an ankle injury, does not make the 18 at the Stadium of Light, where there are starts for Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and Michael Owen as Ferguson makes four changes to the side which won 1-0 in Valencia during the week and named Dimitar Berbatov among the substitutes. Former United defender Steve Bruce keeps faith with the bulk of the men who drew 2-2 at Liverpool last weekend with Bolo Zenden's inclusion in place of Danny Welbeck the only change. There's a return to the bench for hamstring victims Anton Ferdinand and John Mensah, and they are once again joined by record signing Asamoah Gyan.

1423: Birmingham winger Keith Fahey is recalled to the starting line up for the home encounter with Everton. The Republic of Ireland International replaces Craig Gardner, who starts a three-game ban for his dismissal against Wigan at St Andrews last weekend. Everton boss David Moyes has to make an enforced change from the line up which earned a goalless draw at Fulham. Steven Pienaar is ruled out with a groin injury and his midfield slot is filled by Leon Osman.

1422: Tom Huddlestone looks set to start as a makeshift centre-half for Tottenham's Premier League game against Aston Villa today. Huddlestone is also named captain in the absence of Ledley King, who's replaced by Jermaine Jenas in the only change from Wednesday night's Champions League thrashing of FC Twente. Villa boss Gerard Houllier also makes a single alteration at the back after last weekend's win at Wolves, replacing Carlos Cuellar with the fit-again Richard Dunne.

1407: First goal of the day in the Barclays Premier League with Jordi Gomez - the man fouled by Henry earlier - curling home a free-kick to give Wigan the lead.

1353: Full-time at Tynecastle, and Rangers have indeed won. Pressure on Celtic ahead of their home clash with Hamilton later.

1352: Late drama at Tynecastle and there has been a late twist - Steven Naismith has surely given Rangers the victory! They're going three points clear of Celtic at the top of the SPL.

1337: Late twist on the cards at Tynecastle? Kyle Lafferty has pulled Rangers level with a free-kick that curled around the Hearts wall.

1257: And that match has produced the first red card of the day as Karl Henry is sent off for a sliding challenge on Jordi Gomez.

1245: Off and running in the early game south of the border - it's Wigan against Wolves in the Barclays Premier League.

1213: First goal of the day goes to Hearts with Rudi Skacel taking advantage of some generous Rangers defending to score.

1200: Under way in the early game in the Scottish Premier League - it's Hearts hosting title hopefuls Rangers.
