Liverpool have made Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen a January target but fear they could be priced out of a move for the 23-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.
Ter Stegen has continued to share the net with Claudio Bravo at Camp Nou this season, with Bravo starting when fit in La Liga and the German taking the club's Champions League matches.
That has resulted in Ter Stegen making only 12 appearances in all competitions this season, however, and the former Borussia Monchengladbach player has reportedly become unsettled by the lack of regular action.
Liverpool are prepared to offer £12 million to sign him but while Barcelona acknowledge his £65m release clause is unrealistic, they value him at £20m.
The Spanish champions will listen to offers, the Mirror claims, because they consider current third-choice Jordi Masip ready to step in as Bravo's deputy.
Liverpool are looking for a challenger to Simon Mignolet and hope Ter Stegen will force Barcelona's hand by making clear his desire to be made No.1 or leave Catalonia.
