We Must Beat Benfica At All Costs - Sporting CP Defender Marco Caneira

Portuguese powerhouse Sporting CP lock horns with rivals Benfica on Saturday and former Portugal international Marco Caneira has made it clear that Sporting desperately need a good result.

"It’s a crucial game for us. The victory must be obtained at all costs. The team is under pressure but it’s good pressure. Playing in a derby is always an exciting occasion," Caneira said at a press conference.

"I always say these are the easiest games to play. Concentration is always at a maximum and the support from the fans is unconditional.

"It’s an opportunity for us to reinforce our togetherness and snap out of our poor run of performances. It’s very important that we win and give our fans the joy that they have not had for a long time, because they deserve it.

"It will be the starting point for this new phase. It’s an important match to give us motivation for the rest of the season. It’s a special match after so many changes in the club’s structure, including a new coach," he concluded.
