Sampdoria Midfielder Angelo Palombo Relishing Derby Della Lanterna Against Genoa

Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo is desperate to exact revenge on city rivals Genoa when the two sides battle it out for bragging rights on Saturday night.

Doria lost 3-1 and 1-0 in last season's double header, and Palombo is eager to settle old scores this time round. Despite his eagerness, he has warned that the Grifoni are by no means underdogs.

"It was tough last year as we have many injuries and we had little players at our disposal, from the outside it seemed as if we were inferior to them," Palombo told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"This year they are doing strongly, showing that their values have come out.

"However, my impression for this derby is that Sampdoria can play it with tranquillity."

Luigi Del Neri's side have been a revelation in the league thus far. They are currently sitting on a Champions League place, and they have been the only team to beat league leaders Inter this season.

Palombo believes his side have the right mix to scale new heights even further as he glances towards future success.

"We have started really well this year and I think we can continue to go up even further," he concluded.
