Belgian titleholders Standard Liege have been far from impressive this term and are struggling to find their best form. Head coach Laszlo Boloni has now made it clear that Standard can forget about winning the league title.
"We have a lot of players who are unavailable due to suspensions and injuries. Additionally , players such as Axel Witsel are underwhelming at the moment," said Boloni to Het Nieuwsblad.
"Our team is far from special in its current form. I don't think we are serious contenders for the league title this campaign.
"Anderlecht are too far ahead of us already. It looks like the 2009-'10 season is just not meant to be for Standard."
Standard Liege have dropped to sixth spot in the table following Sunday's 2-0 loss against Sint Truiden. The Rouches trail table toppers Anderlecht by thirteen points.
They sit third in their Champions League group with one more match to go.
