Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has poked fun at “whining” city rivals Sampdoria in the wake of the Rossoblù’s 3-0 win in the Genova derby last night.
“It is a great satisfaction, particularly because someone was saying we were in crisis,” the toy magnate beamed on Sky Sport Italia.
“Samp have complained for 90 minutes, while we taught them a footballing lesson.
“The Blucerchiati were never in the match, especially in the first half: we could talk about obvious inferiority.”
Genoa have now climbed up to fifth in the league standings, one point adrift of Samp who currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League berth.
And Preziosi has confessed he is already working around the clock to strengthen the squad in January and has targeted Bordeaux midfielder Fernando Menegazzo.
“We are negotiating and the player is willing to join Genoa,” he admitted.
“He is an important footballer and we will look to bring him here.”
