Fiorentina Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic: We Gifted Palermo The First Half

After watching Fiorentina fall to their third loss of the season following the 2-1 defeat against Palermo, coach Sinisa Mihajlovic rued a passive opening which cost his side this afternoon.

“We gifted the visitors the first half,” he declared to SkySport.

“Had the boys played the entire 90 minutes like they did in the second period we surely would be celebrating a win today.

“In the opening minutes I saw far too many errors and we were passive out there. After the break the chances started to flow and with a little more fortune in front of goal we could have levelled the scoring.

“Although we have a number of injuries right now, I don’t wish to look for any excuses in defeat. When things aren’t going as planned it is my job to find a way to turn things around.”

The coach was then probed as to his potential sacking given the less than satisfying results in the opening six rounds.

“Unfortunately in the Italian game the coach is often made to pay when the results don’t go as expected. Nevertheless, I am working with serenity here at Fiorentina and am only focused on moving forward.”
