Arsene Wenger Confirms Cesc Fabregas Is Definitely Out Of Arsenal's Clash With Chelsea

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed skipper Cesc Fabregas is definitely out of Sunday's Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Fabregas, 23, injured his hamstring a fortnight ago when he rebounded Anton Ferdinand's clearance into the defender's net to open the scoring in the 1-1 draw.

Wenger had said earlier this week he would give his captain every chance to prove his fitness but the game has arrived too soon.

Speaking to reporters, Wenger revealed his star midfielder had joined goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and Kieran Gibbs on the sidelines.

"Fabregas is not fit to play in this one and nor is Almunia," he said at his press conference.

"We lost Gibbs as well on Tuesday night with a calf problem and he is out of the England squad as well. He is out for two to three weeks."

The problem has also ruled Fabregas out of Spain's upcoming Euro 2012 qualifying double-header against Lithuania and Scotland.
