Werder Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf will have to make do without star attacker Claudio Pizarro when the Hanseaten lock horns with reigning champions Wolfsburg on Saturday.
"Claudio is getting better day by day. But it is simply not yet enough for an appearance," Schaaf was quoted as saying at a press conference on Thursday.
Pizarro has been sidelined with an ankle injury for a month now. The former Chelsea hitman sustained the problem in Werder's 4-1 Bundesliga win against Bochum.
Meanwhile, captain Torsten Frings will be part of the matchday squad again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The 33-year-old midfielder will be returning to action after nearly four weeks out.
