Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has quashed rumours about him leaving Old Trafford by stating that he wants to remain at the club for the rest of his career.
The England international has been consistently linked to an exit from the club, with Aston Villa being touted as the next team to be interested in the signature of the 29-year-old.
In addition, Carrick, who has two years remaining on his contract, denies ever wanting to leave the Theatre of Dreams.
"I have seen some stories suggesting I would be leaving last summer but I take no notice. It's part of the game," he said to Sky Sports.
"I have never thought I was on my way out of United, not for one minute. It has never entered my mind.
"And neither has the manager said anything to me.’’
Carrick admits that playing in the Champions League is a crucial factor as to why he loves playing for the club. The midfielder was delighted with the result midweek against Spanish giants Valencia, beating the La Liga title contenders 1-0 at the Mestalla.
"This is a great place to be and results like the one against Valencia make it all worthwhile when you play a part in something like that.
"I have the rest of this season and next season left on my contract and I would like to stay here for the rest of my career.
"Why would I want to go anywhere else?
"It's up to me this season to work hard to earn the right to do that and to make it a reality.
"So the aim is to be in the team as often as I can."
