Lazio Can Achieve Great Things This Season - Claudio Lotito

Lazio president Claudio Lotito insists his side are top of the table to stay after displacing Inter.

Their 1-0 win over Brescia on Sunday has spurred the Aquile on as their imperial start to the season continues. Lotito has been quick to condense the memories of last season, and he is eager for his side to hold onto their new leader status.

"We know we have built a competitive team, but we know that we need the spirit of the group to achieve objectives," Lotito told Radio Anch'io lo Sport.

"If we do this then this team can achieve great things. I hope we can keep this spirit of those who get on the pitch.

"If everything remains like this then Lazio can do very well because we have quality on all fronts."

Roma, by severe contrast, are lagging in the relegation zone as the crisis continues at Trigoria.

But Lotito is not goading in delight at the plight of his side's city rivals.

"From my part I don't enjoy seeing Roma second from bottom, eight points behind us.

"We will go forward knowing we can compete against anyone."
