Giorgio Chiellini knows all about the politics of faith, insisting he would never leave Juventus for rivals Inter and revealed Juve will benefit from his allegiance as he prepares to shake hands with the Old Lady over a new deal.
"I would never join Inter," he told Tuttosport. "I have Juventus inside me and I could never see myself wearing that shirt.
"I have grown as a player here and I have become a man. The renewal? It's an important gesture from the club and from the old and current directors because the new contract has been in the pipeline.
"I am close to a renewal."
Before signing anything, Chiellini has a battle on his hands against Inter. A tricky game, but one that can be won with the inclusion of effort.
"I won't say what I think about the game. It's comparable to the ones against Milan and Roma. The rivalry can be felt on the pitch. It's tremendous," he said.
"Who will? I cannot imagine this. There are always risks, but we have to be careful."
