Johan Djourou Desperate To Play Every Game For Arsenal Following Long-Term Injury

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has targeted keeping his place in the side that faces Chelsea this weekend, as his comeback from a lengthy spell out with injury continues.

The 23-year-old underwent knee surgery last season and missed almost the entire campaign.

He made his third senior appearance of the campaign against Partizan Belgrade in the Champions League this week and now wants to seal a regular starting spot in Arsene Wenger's side.

"That's what I'm aiming for. I'm a footballer, I'm a pro, I want to play every game," the Switzerland international told reporters.

"I'm working very hard in training; I'm working very hard in the games I've had in the reserves and in the League Cup as well.

"Now I'm just ready to go and I'm really happy the boss sees that and gives me the chance again.

"I'm really happy because I'm coming back from a long injury and enjoying myself again.

"Hopefully, we can keep going for the weekend."

The defender also feels that a good result against Chelsea this weekend will put a marker down regarding the Gunners' title credentials.

He added: "It will tell the world that Arsenal is ready to take on the crown."
