Bayern Munich Coach Louis Van Gaal Plays Down Pressure Of Borussia Dortmund Meeting

A relatively slow start to the league campaign has left defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich 10 points off the pace of leaders Mainz, yet coach Louis van Gaal would not be drawn into building the pressure on his side before Sunday’s titanic clash against Borussia Dortmund.

BVB are presently in second place, seven points ahead of die Roten, but that did not stop the Dutch coach tell his side’s official website that the situation is “not so different to a situation where we were three points ahead of Dortmund. We’re always under pressure to win every match.”

“Obviously, being so many points behind is never good,” the coach did state, before indicating that Hamit Altintop remains doubtful due to an ankle problem.

Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is relishing the trip. “I’m very motivated. There’s the atmosphere in the ground, there’s plenty of prestige at stake – it’s a game you always look forward to,” he affirmed.

“We need to concentrate hard in Dortmund, and we’ll need to be very aggressive, because we desperately need all three points.

“Dortmund are on a roll, just like Mainz. It’s a hard one, but we know what has to be done, and we want to build on the confidence we gained by winning in Basel.”

Schweinsteiger grabbed both of FCB’s goals as they recovered from 1-0 down to record a 2-1 success in Switzerland.
