Hannover coach Mirko Slomka felt that St. Pauli deserved their 1-0 win in the opening game of matchday seven. Marius Ebbers' sixth minute goal sealed the three points for the visitors.
"After the early goal it was more difficult because we knew that St. Pauli are a strong defensive unit away from home. They made it brutally difficult for us although we had more possession," Slomka told Sky after the final whistle.
"St. Pauli have beaten us at our own game. It was a deserved victory for St. Pauli, because we could not find the means to score."
Hannover's surprise defeat at home keeps them in third spot having now played a game more than the teams around them.
