Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie coach Alain Geiger has told Al Heddaf that he is not worried about how his players will react to playing in Lubumbashi against continental champions TP Mazembe in the first leg of their CAF Champions League Semi Final encounter on Sunday because his side have gained enough experience to be used to the pressure of important away games.
“We know we’re going to be put under pressure since we’re playing in another country in a stadium of 20,000 people but I think my players are used to playing in these conditions. We also played in our stadium in front of 20,000 and played in Cairo against Al-Ahly where there were around 100,000 spectators. My players are used to pressure, we have nothing to complain about,” he explained.
Geiger added that he will focus on the mental aspect of the game to prepare his players appropriately for the challenges they will face against the title holders who are known to be incredibly difficult to overcome on their home ground.
“Our strength this year is our team spirit. I think that through that we can achieve a result. We have to play well as a team and so do the substitutes. It’s been the case throughout our campaign. We’re going to focus on the mental aspect and our will,” he said.
“We need to contain them at the beginning of the game because they’re a team who play very offensive. And then we’ll need to score goals because that’s important in away matches.”
