Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini Didn't Expect Comeback Against Bari

Ten-man Genoa stumbled over the finishing line thanks to a stoppage time goal from Luca Toni against Bari, leaving coach Gian Piero Gasperini fulfilled with their day's work.

Rodrigo Palacio put the Grifone in front in the first half but a penalty from Bari's Brazilian striker Paulo Barreto got the visitors back on level terms and the foul meant Emiliano Moretti was sent off.

"It was an unexpected result. The victory shows the positive steps that this club is making. It was a win not only from the heart, but also from a technical side," said Gasperini to TMW.

The 2-1 victory was only Genoa's second of the season and sees them climb just inside the top half of the table.
