
Sandilands, who has signed a two-year deal with an option for a third, was close to signing for Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the current season, but Stars decided they would not do the deal and Sandilands did not get his wish.
“I’ve wanted to move and while the Chiefs issue was a disappointment, I am now happy. It is a dream come true,” he said, according to Kickoff.com.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper is up against it. Brian Baloyi and Calvin Marlin are already fighting it out for the number one spot while Jackson Mabokgwane sits patiently waiting for a chance.
“I’m in the game to win matches and trophies … that’s what every player wants. Sundowns also have thousands of supporters so there is a new pressure for me to handle, but this will bring the best out of me,” he said.
While thanking Stars for the opportunity The Tycoons afforded him, Sandilands says the Sundowns move “will be good” for his development.
