Tunisian Football Federation To Fill Remaining Technical Staff Positions

Former Tunisian international defender Sami Trabelsi has told Jawhara FM that he has been nominated as a possible assistant coach to the recently appointed Faouzi Benzarti who will lead the Carthage Eagles at the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

“There’s a desire for me to be an assistant to Faouzi Benzarti but the final decision goes to the Federal Bureau that will meet either on Wednesday or Thursday. My name was proposed amongst a few others,” he explained.

According to Gnet.tn the other two names that are being considered are that of Mondher Kebaier and Taoufik Zaaboub. However, Trablesi has an advantage considering that his name was reportedly put forth by Kamel Ben Amor, the Tunisian Football Federation President.

Meanwhile, another name put forth by the FA president to round out the team’s technical staff is that of former national team number one Ali Boumnijel who would take on the goalkeeper coaching duties.

What is noteworthy about both nominations is that each of Trabelsi and Boumnijel are already familiar with the inner workings of the FTF considering that the former is the current national Olympic coach while the latter is the U-17 coach.

If the Federal Bureau accepts the nominations then the two coaches would travel with the senior side to Angola in January but they will likely have to relinquish their respective jobs coaching the youth setups in the country if they’d like to continue working with Benzarti after the continental tournament is over.

Otherwise they will return to their current posts and a new assistant and goalkeeper trainer will be selected.
