Spanish Cumpleanos: Gary Lineker

1960: Gary Lineker: Currently a TV presenter for the BBC, striker Lineker spent two and a half seasons in the Primera Liga with Barcelona. During his time at Camp Nou he managed 53 goals in 138 appearances, including a hat-trick in his first ever Clasico against Real Madrid. He also won a Copa del Rey crown and a European Cup Winners' Cup. For England he scored 48 times in 80 internationals and won the Golden Shoe at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Lineker was never booked in 647 games, between club and international fixtures.

1972: Abel Xavier: Portuguese defender Xavier played for 12 separate clubs in his career and had spells in Portugal, Spain, Italy, England, Netherlands, Turkey Germany and the USA. Capped 20 times for Portugal, his time in Spain was spent at Real Oviedo, where he helped Los Carbayones successfully avoid relegation for two consecutive seasons before switching to PSV in 1998.
