Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez believes that Jamie Carragher is back to his best, following a series of indifferent performances earlier in the season.
The marshal of the Reds' rearguard put in a solid shift to ensure his side walked away from Goodison Park with a 2-0 win in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
Benitez insists that defensive woes are a thing of the past, and hailed his stoppers for their strong display against the Toffees.
"I thought our defending as a team was very good and that is a positive thing for the future," Benitez said on the club's official website.
"[Daniel] Agger and 'Carra' [Carragher] did a very good job and we had [Javier] Mascherano and Lucas working so hard in the midfield helping the defence."
The former Valencia boss hoped that the victory in the derby would be followed by a win against Blackburn Rovers.
"Always it is important to win, and to win games in a row is key if you want to stay high up the table and be in the top four," he added.
"At this moment we have to take one game at a time. We have done our job today and we have to enjoy it.
"We have a week now to prepare for our next game against Blackburn and hopefully we can get another victory."
