Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi is delighted to have helped team-mate Klaas-Jan Huntelaar open his account for the club last night.
The Dutchman came off the bench to net a sensational brace in stoppage time that gave the Rossoneri a precious 2-0 win away to Catania to leapfrog Juventus into second place in Serie A.
Huntelaar’s first effort came after an inspired assist from Inzaghi, the goal poacher turning provider for a change, and the ex-Juventus man also made excellent work in the build-up to the second goal.
“I am happy to have been useful to Klaas,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia after the match.
“You always have to be ready when called upon and I am glad for Huntelaar because I don’t often manage to provide assists.
“We played close to one another and I’m pleased because it’s never easy to come on and become decisive.”
But Inzaghi picked up a yellow card and will sit out a ban next weekend when Sampdoria visit the San Siro.
“I’m sorry because I will not be able to contribute to the team,” he noted.
“I was fouled plenty in the penalty box, but as soon I made one I got booked.”
