Club Africain Stay In Tunisian Championship Race With Stoppage Time Win

A week after clawing back from a two goal disadvantage in the second half to force a 2-2 tie against Etoile Sportive du Sahel in Sousse, Club Africain have once again pulled off a last minute league win at El Menzah Stadium in Tunis.

Despite dominating the encounter against their opponents and creating a flurry of goalscoring chances, the “Biancorosso” were unable to find the back of the net until the 94th minute of the match through Mohamed Traore, who has made a habit of providing dramatic entrances as a super sub.

The ball fell to him in the box following a free kick and the Malian applied a side foot volley to give his team an all important victory to stay within touching distance of league leaders Esperance Sportive de Tunis a week away from the Tunis derby between the two sides.

This is the second time Traore has scored a stoppage time goal and the fourth time that Club Africain have won in the dying second of a match this year. The youngster spoke to TV7 after the match and expressed his joy at having been decisive once again.

“It gives me a lot of joy to make our supporters happy. I put in a good match thanks to my team-mates. It doesn’t matter if I start matches or go in as a substitute,” he said.

“The coach asked me to be play my game. I stayed focused until the last minute. I’m confident and that’s very important in football. I’d like to thank our dear fans one more time.”
