Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he would rather win the Champions League than the Premier League with Chelsea.
The Blues currently top the league table in England by two points, although they could extend that lead with victory over Arsenal on Sunday, yet it is in Europe where Ancelotti has revealed he craves success.
“I know in England it is important to win the Premier League. I prefer the Champions League," he told BBC Sport.
“It's the most important competition in Italy and most important in the world. If possible we'll try to win both."
The Italian already possesses a fine track record in Europe’s top competition, having won it twice as a manager and twice as a player with AC Milan, a reason many believe owner Roman Abramovich wanted Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge.
Yet the Italian dismissed suggestions the club’s Russian owner had demanded the Champions League but explained he was hoping the club would not finish the season empty-handed.
Ancelotti explained: “When I joined, he did not say to me that I had to win the Champions League, but he did say he would like to see his team arrive at the end of the season in all competitions.”
The 50-year-old also reiterated his belief the Blues would not dip into the transfer market in January, despite a number of top names being continually linked with a move to west London.
“It is not necessary to have new players because all the players in the squad are in a good condition," added the Italian.
"If we maintain this until January, we do not need to sign anyone.
"We have started the season well. This is a good organisation, with good, professional players and a good atmosphere.
"I would like to stay until Abramovich is happy with my job. I like to stay in England because there is a good mentality for football here."
