Real Sociedad Coach Martin Lasarte Thanks Keeper Claudio Bravo After Win Over Espanyol

Real Sociedad coach Martin Lasarte praised his side’s resilience as they eventually managed to overcome Espanyol to win 1-0 at San Sebastian on Saturday evening.

Despite the visitors holding the majority of possession, a late Jeffrey Sarpong free-kick was saved by Carlos Kameni, only for the unfortunate Juan Forlin to direct the ball into his own net and gift Real the points.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Lasarte was pleased with the effort shown to overcome such a stubborn away performance, and he remarked: “We were able to capitalise on one of the weaknesses of our opponents in order to prevail, which was their ability to defend set-pieces.

“We have remained confident despite our recent losses, and that gives us power as the home team.”

Lasarte also praised the display of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who produced a string of excellent saves in order to keep Espanyol at bay, saying simply: “We are fortunate to have him.”

Real Sociedad’s next match after the international break is an away fixture versus fellow newly-promoted side Levante.
