Eindhoven giants PSV struggled a bit against VVV in the opening 45 minutes of the weekend match, but they eventually cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win after the interval, much to the satisfaction of head coach Fred Rutten.
"The team produced a good performance, especially in the series of games we are in. We showed patience, maturity and played professionally. I am satisfied. We played against an opponent who made us work very hard," said Rutten in the post-match press conference.
"We had lots of possession in the first half. The openings were hard to find, but I felt they were coming. I saw some of their players gasping for air after 35 minutes.
"After we went 1-0 up you saw we still had a lot left, and 3-0 was a correct result. I think I can be satisfied. Maybe it was not entirely a match for the spectators, but as a coach I am very satisfied."
PSV have climbed to first spot in the table following this weekend's results. They have a one-point lead over Ajax after eight matchdays.
