Roma left-back John Arne Riise is confident coach Claudio Ranieri can lead the side back to the top of the Serie A ladder despite a poor start to the season.
The Giallorossi currently find themselves in second-last place on five points, after suffering a 2-0 loss to Napoli on the weekend.
Riise believed the team had turned a corner last week after it defeated rivals Inter 1-0 in the league and Basel 2-1 in the Champions League.
"After two consecutive wins, we hoped to repeating the same succcess against Napoli. After a good first half, we let ourselves down, as Napoli played better in the second, and consolidated their dominance with two goals," Riise told TMW. "Us players are as disappointed as our fans.
"The side must now work hard to gain the three points on offer in our next league match [against Genoa].
"We are going through the same black period that we did last season, but then something changed and we were fighting for the Scudetto on the last day of the season. We need to find that same spirit, and am convinced Ranieri will help us to gain glory," he concluded.
