Dutch powerhouse PSV put in a solid performance in their Europa League game against Metalist Kharkiv and the Eindhoven side eventually recorded a solid 2-0 win, much to the satisfaction of head coach Fred Rutten.
"The 2-0 victory over Metalist Kharkiv is a very important one. We controlled the game and hardly gave anything away," said Rutten on the official PSV website.
"The red card for Metalist obviously had an impact on the game, but nothing much changed as we had been the better side in the opening stages against 11 man as well.
"We were very well organised. This is a very important victory for the squad.
"We arrived late at the stadium due to a traffic jam and there was not much time left to warm up. But the players proved to be very professional and coped well."
PSV sit joint first in the table in Group I following Thursday's results. The Eindhoven side have accumulated four points from two games.
