Everton could be set to make a January loan move for Manchester United striker Federico Macheda in an attempt to bolster their injury-hit strikeforce.
Toffees boss David Moyes has seen forwards Louis Saha, Victor Anichebe and Yakubu all sidelined for long periods with various injuries during the last two years.
The Scot is now ready to approach fellow countryman Sir Alex Ferguson in a bid to bring the Italian to Goodison Park, according to The Mail on Sunday.
Macheda looks set to struggle to break into the United first team this season, as Wayne Rooney is set to return from an ankle injury and Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez are amongst the goals, while Ferguson also has Michael Owen in reserve.
Reports in Italy have suggested a deal is already in place for Macheda to return to Lazio - where he started his career - for a loan spell.
