Dortmund extended their domestic winning streak to six consecutive matches following tonight's 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich. The result snaps a three-game losing streak the Ruhr side have had against their southern rivals, and has cast serious doubts over the Bavarians' title chances. On the other hand, the result confirmed Dortmund's worthiness of their position in the Bundesliga table.
After an evenly played first half, goals from Lucas Barrios (51') and Nuri Sahin (60) set Dortmund on pace for victory. The quickfire strikes instantly deflated Bayern's hopes, and ruled out any chance of the visitors taking points.
After a sustained spell of pressure, Dortmund took advantage of a weak clearance, and Barrios fired in the opener off a deflection.
