Bayer Leverkusen may soon add more South American flavour to their squad, if a report from Kicker is to be believed. Die Werkself have allegedly sent Michael Retschke and Norbert Ziegler to Brazil for the next two weeks in order to look for new talents.

Leverkusen have been plagued by injuries since the beginning of the 2010-11 season, and might be particularly keen to bolster their midfield, which is now rather thin. Should they sign any Brazilians, Leverkusen will not have to worry about them being cup-tied, and will of course be able to use them in the Europa League. The Germans have a history of signing Brazilian stars, and the likes of Lucio, Juan, Jorginho, Emerson, and Ze Roberto have featured in their ranks over the years.

The Werkself are currently first in their Europa League group, but are already nine points off the pace in the Bundesliga.
