According to a report in Record, Portuguese powerhouse Benfica are closely monitoring the situation of Atletico Mineiro's Brazilian international Diego Tardelli.
The Lisbon side are eager to add some more depth to their squad up front and head coach Jorge Jesus has reportedly made Tardelli his primary target on the transfer market.
The 24-year-old previously played in Europe at PSV and Betis, but failed to make an impact at both sides. Therefore, Tardelli opted to return to Brazil to re-launch his career.
Tardelli has been in superb form at Mineiro this season and his prolific finishing hasn't gone unnoticed. He made his official debut for Brazil's senior side and is continually being linked with a return to Europe.
Saint-Etienne were on the verge of signing him last summer, but the transfer eventually collapsed for unknown reasons. Mineiro have reportedly set a €10 million asking price for Tardelli.
