Napoli Chief De Laurentiis In Veiled Attack On Roberto Donadoni

Roberto Donadoni may be long gone, but the hapless tactician still seems to be on Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis’ mind.

The movie mogul has blasted the training methods of Walter Mazzarri’s predecessor after the Vesuviani came away with a single point from Parma in Serie A yesterday despite dominating the proceedings for large spells.

“After an enthralling first period, we were sub-par in the second half,” De Laurentiis is quoted as saying in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The team need to have a fitness preparation so that it can last the whole encounter. I am perplexed about the fact that two strikers had to be replaced.

“It means that whoever was here before Mazzarri and his staff came in did not work well…”

After German Denis’s opener, the Vesuviani wasted several gilt-edged chances to put the result beyond doubt, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw after a dubious decision by referee Matteo Trefoloni to award the Ducali a penalty late on.

“I won’t complain about the spot-kick,” added De Laurentiis.

“But I noticed that the referee was biased during the second half. Whoever behaves in such a way should not officiate. Napoli demand respect and the Italian league is a serious league.

“If it must not be like this because of the referee, then [referee designator Pierluigi] Collina must give some explanation.”
