Valencia are scouring the market to find a replacement for David Villa to allow them to cash in on their star striker and ease their current financial plight, coach Unai Emery has revealed.
Several of Europe's richest clubs are maintaining an interest with Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid all said to have enquired about his availability.
With Madrid and subsequently Barca both having come close to signing him in the summer, Los Che were able to hold on to him after the club's finances were restructured to control their huge debt.
The Mestalla outfit have now realised, though, that they cannot hope to continue to turn down offers of over €40 million for the forward and are looking for a new goalscorer.
"The exit of Villa will be dependant on us identifying a suitable replacement," Emery was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. "At the moment the club is working on that, but any decision will not rest with me.
"My mission is to prepare the squad for the present and not think too much about the future. Valencia will always be a big club and we do not depend on just one or two players."
