Manchester United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson: Touchline Ban Won't Stop Communication

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t anticipate a lack of communication being a problem as he starts his two-game touchline ban for comments made about referee Alan Wiley against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Ferguson will be sitting near the home end of the ground but he feels he can still get his messages across to the players via his coaching staff.

“It shouldn’t really affect us. We have got our communication lines in place for the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“The only problem you’ve got is that it’s a very noisy place, Fratton Park.

“It’s one of these old stadiums, the stands are a bit rickety nowadays, and the directors’ box is towards the home end where all the drums and noise is going on! It’s a good racket, and a terrific ground. But we should be OK.”

Ferguson has also reportedly given his backing to Pompey’s new manager Avram Grant, believing him to be the man to save the club from relegation.
