Ajax Ready To Cash In On Bruno Silva

Ajax coach Martin Jol has made it clear that Uruguayan defender Bruno Silva is no longer needed at the Amsterdam outfit and the right-back will be allowed to leave the club in January.

"We have several players who hardly get any regular first team action, but earn significant salaries. Bruno Silva is one of those players and it would be in everybody's interest if he leaves Ajax," Jol said to AT5.

The 29-year-old full-back joined Ajax from Groningen in January 2008 and made an impressive start to life at his new club. However, Silva is finding regular first team action hard to come by ever since the breakthrough of Gregory van der Wiel.

Silva recently expressed his desire to move on in January in order not to jeopardise his chances of making it into Uruguay's World Cup squad.

The highly rated defender was linked with both Palermo and Roma earlier this year, but it's not yet known whether the Serie A sides are still keeping tabs on him.
