Red Bulls and Galaxy put seven in MLS All-Star first XI

The fan votes put seven in between New York and Los Angeles when the MLS All-Star team takes on the Premier League's defending champions.

The New York Red Bulls duo Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez, and the Los Angeles Galaxy's David Beckham and Landon Donovan highlight the MLS All-Star First XI, with three other players from the league's two biggest teams joining the party.

New York defender Tim Ream also made the list while Galaxy defenders Omar Gonzales and Sean Franklin round out the selections from LA.

Seattle's Kasey Keller was voted in as the goalkeeper. Dallas' Brek Shea and Portland's Jack Jewsbury, meanwhile, join Beckham in the midfield. San Jose's Chris Wondolowski is the other forward.

Sunday's announced First XI is not necessarily the starting lineup for the July 27 match against Manchester United at Red Bulls Arena in New Jersey. All-Star coach Hans Backe will select the starters for that match according to availability and tactical decisions.

The First XI received the most votes at their respective positions from combined fan voting on three platforms - online at MLSsoccer.com, via text message, and via Twitter. The online and text voting ballot consisted of six players from each club, as chosen by a panel of media members.

A 4-3-3 formation was selected for this year's First XI because the third-ranked forward received more than twice as many votes as the fourth-place midfielder.
