Selcuk Sahin Injury Blow For Fenerbahce & Turkey

Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have been dealt a cruel blow on the injury front in the aftermath of their league match against Genclerbirligi at the weekend.

Influential midfielder Selcuk Sahin sustained a knee injury in his side's 3-0 home win and the 29-year-old will be sidelined for a while as a result.

A scan on Sunday revealed that Sahin is suffering from torn ligaments in his right knee. The Turkish international is expected to be unavailable for at least two months due to the knock, according to a report on uefa.com.

Sahin will not only miss several league matches with Fenerbahce due to the knee injury, but will also be forced to watch the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Germany (October 8) and Azerbaijan (October 12) from the stands.

Turkey coach Guus Hiddink has decided not to call up a replacement for the experienced midfielder.
