Manchester City Winger Adam Johnson Refutes Roberto Mancini Concerns

Manchester City starlet Adam Johnson is determined to prove to manager Roberto Mancini that he is not losing focus and is certain that his career is on the right track.

Johnson saved the Eastlands outfit this week, scoring the equaliser in the Europa League clash against Juventus. He has been in sensational form for both club and country over the last two months but is struggling to secure a starting spot in the star-studded City team.

The 23-year-old was recently on the receiving end of a public warning from Mancini. The Italian expressed fears that Johnson was getting distracted by off-field temptations and felt he needed to take proactive steps before it was too late.

The two have apparently sat down and had a deep conversation about the comments. Johnson feels these claims were unwarranted however has taken the manager's concerns onboard and is looking to improve both on and off the field.

"I’ve had a chat with the manager and it’s between me and him what was said. I want to be playing in every game so hopefully I’ll start against Newcastle." Said the English winger.

"I heard the comments, but I’ve worked a lot on my game since I signed here and obviously I’ll carry on doing that. I’ll carry on working on my game - whatever he wants me to do.

"A lot has been made of it but it hasn’t affected me. I just get on with it, get my head down. It didn’t really faze me to be honest.

"I have been playing well since the start of the season with England and then against Liverpool and Blackburn. I just want to stay in the team.

"Every time I obviously give it my all. I think if I’m playing well, I think I must be doing things right off the pitch as well as doing it on the pitch."
