Huracan Coach Miguel Angel Brindisi Shrugs Off Barra Brava Threats

Huracan coach Miguel Angel Brindisi affirmed that the 'Globo' must forget about a nightmarish weekend and move forward, with the struggling team looking to move out of relegation trouble.

If a comprehensive 3-0 defeat against Racing Club on Saturday night was not painful enough for Brindisi and his team, the night was to worsen. Ole reported that some 100 hardcore fans followed the club coach as they returned to Parque Patricios, and after some threats and insults the barras spoke with senior players and implored them to raise their game - or receive another visit the following week.

Several of the younger 'Globo' players were reportedly terrified by the events but Brindisi attempted to put the incident behind them and calm his players down.

"It is something that can happen in our football, it is normal. You shouldn't listen to that kind of thing, we have to distance ourselves from the situation. We will get out of this with hard work, and I hope to see double the effort from you," the newspaper reports Brindisi as telling his charges afterwards.

This sentiment was reiterated by midfielder Gaston Machin, who as one of the more senior players in the team talked to the barra on Saturday night even though he was suspended for the game itself.

"It was something normal, they came to show us the fans' feelings in their own unique way. It is logical because the team is playing badly, we all see it. The youngest were surprised because they have not experienced that before, but they have to understand that this can happen," Machin explained in yesterday's interview with Ole.

"At 19 you are no longer a kid in our football and I am sorry to say that you have to grow up rapidly to deal with this."
