Didier Drogba continued his fine scoring form against Arsenal on Sunday, as he scored the first in a 2-0 win for Chelsea.
Drogba notched his 13th goal in 13 appearances against the north London club when he cleverly turned in Ashley Cole’s cross, which was played slightly behind him, in the first half to give his side a 1-0 lead before Alex thundered home a Roberto Carlos-esque freekick with five minuted remaining to wrap up all three points.
"I might be at the right place at the right time," Drogba told Sky Sports about his crafty goal.
"I have scored a goal like that before in the Champions League group stage, but this one I think is much better because it [took us] 1-0 up."
Arsenal will rightly feel aggrieved at the scoreline, as they bossed possession for the majority of the game, with the only difference being that Chelsea took their chances in front of goal, and Drogba appeared to agree as he went to speak to manager Carlo Ancelotti just before his side took the lead.
"[I went over to Ancelotti because] we were not defending well [before the first goal]. I think we didn't keep the right position and we weren't doing what we were supposed to do. The second half was much better, even if we did suffer," the Ivorian continued.
"[When we scored] the first goal we tried to adjust things, stay in our positions and win the ball.”
The result now leaves Chelsea seven points clear of Arsenal but, more importantly, four points clear of Manchester City in second place, as club sides take a break to allow the Euro 2012 qualifiers to get back underway.
"It is good to go into the [international] gap [4 points clear], and we now we are top of the league even though we had a difficult game at Man City, but now we [have] won and it is a good feeling."
