There Is Still Work To Do For Villarreal - Ernesto Valverde

The Primera Division kicks off this weekend in El Molinon as Sporting Gijon host Villarreal, and Ernesto Valverde is hopeful of ending the hosts' recent good form.

"They are in a good moment, with quite a few points in the standings and a very good dynamic, but we will play to our strengths - a victory would do us a lot of good," the coach explained to El Mundo Deportivo.

"Whenever they win the ball they attack very quickly, because they feel compelled to so by their supporters. We will have to overcome this difficulty."

Valverde stressed the importance of keeping clean sheets as often as possible because he feels there is still work to be done in order for el Submarino Amarillo to achieve their aims this season.

"If we don't concede in defence, we will have already gone forward a lot. We have got ourselves out of a difficult situation and we want to continue climbing the table," he asserted.

Villarreal face Sporting Gijon at 18.00 CET on Saturday evening, and can climb into the top half with a victory.
