Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor will undergo a groin operation on Monday, which will sideline him for around two weeks.
The 23 year-old has been plagued by a groin injury since the season's beginning and the minor surgery should fix his problems.
Due to the operation he wll be unavailable for England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro as well as club action, although whether he would've been called up by manager Fabio Capello anyway is up for debate.
"Gabby will have a minor operation on Monday evening on his groin," said Villa boss Gerard Houllier.
"He had to leave training this morning because it was too painful. I think the England squad is given on Monday and that has definitely ruled him out.
"It is not just a niggle, it is real pain and hopefully the operation will heal that.
"He could be available for the Chelsea game but, if not, definitely for our match against Sunderland."
