Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Reveals Old Boy Robert Pires Is 'Sparkling' Upon Training Ground Return
Robert Pires has been in "sparkling" form upon his training ground return to Arsenal as he looks for a new club, according to manager Arsene Wenger.
Pires, 36, left Villarreal this summer and is a free agent. Moves to the United States, China and Turkey have failed to materialise thus far and he has been keeping fit at London Colney for the last week with plans to stay on for another seven days.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Wenger believed the Gunners legend - who racked up 189 appearances and two Premier League titles in a six-year spell before he headed to Spain in 2006 - could still do a job in the French top flight.
He said: "He is sparkling.
"He’s happy on the ball and physically he is fine. He can be of service in Ligue 1."
