Milan Must Keep Gennaro Gattuso - Franco Baresi

Legendary former Milan defender Franco Baresi has stressed the importance of keeping Gennaro Gattuso at the club.

Gattuso issued a play me or sell me plea after becoming concerned with a lack of pitch time. The midfielder has World Cup ambitions and knows that staying on the bench will not help his cause.

Baresi has now stepped in to downplay the issues surrounding the Italian. He believes it's imperative for the club to keep their man, telling Gattuso he musn't grumble.

"It's clear that no player likes being left out, but I am sure that when he returns to form he will get Leonardo's attention," Baresi told Tuttomercatoweb.com

"Milan will play plenty of games and I am sure Gattuso will have his chance to play. We know how important his determination and personality is and I wouldn't allow him to run away from Milan."
