Blackburn Rovers Boss Sam Allardyce's Heart Surgery A Success

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is expected to be discharged from hospital on Saturday after undergoing heart surgery, the club has confirmed.

Allardyce, 55, underwent an angioplasty, a procedure to correct narrowing to one branch of his coronary arteries, on Friday.

"The procedure has gone well and Sam is expected to be discharged from hospital on Saturday," Rovers club doctor Phil Batty told the club's official website.

Allardyce himself added: "I would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of goodwill and the entire cardiology team."

'Big Sam' is set to return to the dug-out for the match with Liverpool on December 5 although assistant Neil McDonald will continue to take charge of the team until then.
