Xabi Alonso is delighted that the injury he suffered during Real Madrid's Champions League win against Zurich will not keep him out of action for more than two weeks.
The Spain international midfielder was substituted after being caught on the ankle on Tuesday evening and early indications suggested the blow was serious.
After not training on Wednesday or Thursday, Alonso told the media that he had undergone a series of exams and that they had been positive for him and for Real Madrid.
"I feared the worst at first because the blow was hard and I have experienced bad injuries in the past," Alonso was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"But the scans have been positive and I intend to be back helping the squad very soon."
The injury to Alonso's Achilles will give Fernando Gago a chance to regain his place in the side after he was pushed out of the central midfield role this term.
