Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle has backed Mauricio Pochettino's men to win the Premier League crown this season, stating they have the consistency to dream of the title.
Spurs sit fourth in the table ahead of Sunday's trip to Everton, and can close the gap at the top with leaders Arsenal to four points with a win at Goodison Park.
England's traditional powerhouses have each endured inconsistent campaigns so far, with no side building a significant lead after 20 games.
And having seen serious weaknesses in each of Tottenham's competitors, Hoddle is confident his former club have the means to be dark horses and bring their 55-year wait for the league to an end.
"At the start of the season I don’t think anyone genuinely expected Tottenham to be title contenders. They themselves would have been focused on making the top four," the 58-year-old wrote in the Daily Mail.
"Halfway through the season though, I believe it is time for the board of directors, the manager, the players and the supporters to expand their vision. It is time for Tottenham to fix their sights on winning the Premier League.
"In this extraordinary season, with Chelsea falling by the wayside, Manchester United weaker than ever, Manchester City inconsistent and even Arsenal prone to some awful performances, they have an opportunity which may not present itself again.
"In fact, I would go as far to say that other than Leicester City, Tottenham have been the most consistent side in the Premier League this season. Unlike Arsenal, their defeats haven’t been meltdowns."
However, Hoddle believes Tottenham must keep their talented squad intact and show some ambition by resisting bids for their best players, such as Harry Kane.
"Now this team has a chance to be better and they must seize it," the former England coach added. "They need to exploit the fact that Chelsea and United are weak at the moment and that is why I believe the board need to grasp the moment as much as the players.
"Certainly, there can be no thoughts of letting a club like United buy Harry Kane in the summer — and I don’t believe they would allow that. The days of players such as Teddy Sheringham, Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale departing have to be over.
"This is a magical time for the club, with a new stadium planned, and now is the moment to back the manager in the transfer market and invest."
